HRCH Levenghyl Apollo “Rio”

Rio is a big British Labrador stud with an even bigger motor. Around the kennels, he is calm but ready to go work at a moment’s notice. In the field, he is not for the faint of heart. Like his big brother Arden, Rio is a fantastic natural marker. He hits both water and cover hard enough to cause concern for his safety. We are excited to be able to add his size, speed, and style to our breeding program.

Rio came to us by way of Lee Hayman at Tildaross Gundogs, the same friend who provided us with Cedar and Arden. He shares a sire with Arden, open stake FTW Copperbirch Ross. His dam is a very driven field trial winner from Levenghyl Gundogs, and she’s a daughter of FTCh Copperbirch Paddy of Leadburn. Rio’s pedigree includes so many of our favorite British Labrador lines, and he’s exactly the type of dog we would expect from this lineage.

In the fall of 2022, we started Rio’s HRC journey in the USA. Corey Wages, owner of SOK Tanglefoot, took Rio through seasoned very quickly with a 100% pass rate. We took the fall of 2023 off to spent time hunting Rio in the field, and then Corey and Rio went 4/4 in HRC Finished to earn his HRCH title. We are excited for what the future holds for Rio!
