Fig
Fig is an exceptional Labrador in every way. Her story goes back to a by-chance meeting at a field trial in northern England. I was talking with Simon Capstick of Gunnerspeg Labradors when we realized that his foundation bitch, FTCh Drakeshead Casey, was a litter-sister to one of our favorite SOK dams, HRCH Drakeshead Cali. After a few more conversations, I mentioned that I would love the chance to have a pup from Casey’s last litter, should be consider it. Well, just over a year later, I was fortunate enough to bring little Fig over from England.
We raised Fig here at our home, and she’s exactly what we hoped. Perfect hips and elbows and a picture of what an athletic, field-bred Labrador should be. She is incredibly fast, like her mom and aunt. She’s also a cover-smasher. Fig hunts heavy cover like you’d expect a spaniel to, with a ton of speed and style. She is soft and gentle, but always ready to learn and keep going. Her water entry is massive, and she’s quickly earned a spot in our hearts at SOK Headquarters.
Fig’s lineage is as strong as anything we’ve had. Her dam, Casey, has produced winners and champions from all four breedings, including FTCh Gunnerspeg Apollo and FTCh Gunnerspeg Gambler. Her sire, FTCh Etomanni Missouri, has qualified for the IGL multple years in a row and now produced several outstanding dogs in the UK. Fig’s brother, Gunnerspeg Halstead, won his first trial out and is quickly on his way to becoming a UK FTCh. We are thankful to have Fig as a part of our crew!
